While many House Rules teams open the door to their newly renovated homes and are overjoyed with the results, Adelaide’s Brooke and Michelle Fogden have mixed feelings about their revamp.
The parents-of-two were the second pair to have their abode renovated on this year’s series and last night received their keys back so they could explore their transformed house.
They were admittedly shocked to find that many of the teams had removed key character features of the home, like fireplaces and picture rails, despite a specific house rule to “play up the elegant charm” of the period property.
“That’s the risk you take signing up for the show and we knew that,” Michelle told The West Australian.
“We said ‘We put ourselves up for this so we have to take whatever’.”
Former Adelaide Crow Brooke added: “Everyone can interpret the rules differently, I suppose. It’s hard, you look at something and you think ‘What do the homeowners mean by that?’”
Michelle, an artist, said some of the contestants misinterpreted the “funky modern” brief, leading to a clash of design styles from room to room.
