ABOUT BROOKE

Current Bowls SA Ambassador and former SANFL star, Brooke Fogden is a landscape gardener affectionately referred to as the BFG – Big Friendly Gardener.

MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH

Since the House Rules journey in 2016, Brooke has utilised his profile to increase awareness surrounding men’s mental health and inspire other men to speak up and seek help when in need. Brooke has also recently completed his certificate in Mental Health First Aid and is in the process of becoming a Mental Health First Aid Trainer.

CHARITY WORK

Being a hands-on dad, Brooke is extremely passionate about helping kids. In October 2017 he trekked Kokoda with The Little Heroes Foundation to raise money for the children’s charity. In 2016 and 2017 he thoroughly enjoyed playing in the AFL Slowdown, Little Heroes’ signature event, featuring football legends and celebrities from across Australia to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families. Brooke is also a volunteer (and team leader) at Fred’s Van – an initiative run by St Vinnies to feed the homeless.

SPORTS & BOWLS SA

Brooke is quite the sportsman. He spent time on the Adelaide Crows AFL list before carving out a successful 165 game career in the SANFL. He is the current Bowls SA Ambassador and a proud member and Coordinator of Night Owls at Millswood Bowls Club in Adelaide. Brooke’s initiatives with Night Owls have seen the club go from almost closing its doors to thriving. At the recent Bowls SA Awards Night, Brooke’s work promoting men’s mental health along with his ‘hug it out’ initiative resulted in the club winning the 2018 Innovation Award.

Brooke is extremely passionate about sustainable living and enjoys planting veggie patches for his family and the community. He hopes to build on this aspect of his business to encourage more families and workplaces to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle. It’s something he also believes will complement his work surrounding Mental Health issues.
